Tailwind CSS with ShadowJS
Set up Tailwind CSS v4 the way the create-shadow-app template does, write static and dynamic classes that Tailwind can see, build variants without a dependency, and move a React or Next.js Tailwind setup over.
Tailwind is a build-time tool: it reads class names from your source files and writes a stylesheet. ShadowJS does not
interact with it beyond writing the class attribute, so a Tailwind project moves over with its classes unchanged.
What changes is the build wiring (a Vite plugin instead of PostCSS in most Next.js setups), the attribute name
(class, with className accepted on elements), and how you compose class names.
This page states only what the repository verifies: the files and versions of the create-shadow-app template, and
the exact class output of the components shown. Tailwind's own behavior is described in
Tailwind documentation; this page does not restate it.
